Lucy’s story
Lucy was 19 when she came to Doorstep, homeless and estranged from most of her own family. After receiving Floating Support for a short period, she was offered a flat with Doorstep.
Lucy was working at the time she was offered the flat so she could afford it. The same week that Lucy was due to move into the flat, she lost her job.
Initially, her mum was going to provide her with a bed and sofa but withdrew the support on the day of signing up for the tenancy. Lucy’s asset coach successfully applied to a charity for a bed and one of our supported lodgings hosts donated a sofa and TV.
Doorstep were able to provide kitchen essentials which had been donated by local companies. Lucy moved into the flat and managed to secure new employment very quickly. There are still struggles at times with finances but with support and encouragement Lucy is managing to keep on top of her bills.
Lucy is now accessing therapy to support her with her mental health and is beginning to thrive in her flat.

Abi’s story

Chloe’s story
